Where your practice facility allows it, place a small towel on the green. Choose one wedge, one lie, and a consistent starting point.
Turn “get it close” into something you can measure. Score the first bounce in a chosen landing zone and note the roll separately.

Your practice toolkit
Use a target size you choose before the first shot. Keep that zone fixed for the whole test.

15 chips
Hit fifteen chips and count first bounces in your chosen area. Note the roll distance, but keep that separate from the landing score.
Next session
Use the same club, lie, landing spot, and fifteen attempts. When results become repeatable, change one element: distance, lie, or club.
Illustrations show the setup, not exact distances. Use a designated practice area and keep other golfers clear of your shots.

Put the plan into practice
The goal is to find your current pattern. A first bounce and a final resting position tell you different things.
